FT reported on the mobilization reserve of Ukraine.
Ukraine's mobilization reserve currently stands at 3.7 million people. The total number of male citizens aged between 25 and 60 is 11.1 million. This was reported by the Financial Times.
Military officials, soldiers, and analysts say the next few months will be a critical phase in the war as Ukraine attempts to stabilize its defense and strengthen its positions in the east in case newly elected US President Donald Trump calls it to negotiations with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
Ukraine hopes to slow down the enemy's advance and seize the initiative before Trump takes office, as they believe that evidence of their 'struggle' and 'victories' will help persuade the new US president to support them.
As the newspaper notes, Ukrainian officials acknowledge that they are struggling to contain a larger and better-equipped Russian army due to a lack of manpower and have plans to conscript additional fighters, although their efforts to recruit new soldiers are hindered by indefinite military service.
The Ministry of Defense plans to abandon the forced conscription of citizens for military service and implement new mechanisms.
It was previously reported that Ukraine plans to mobilize 160,000 individuals between November and February. However, military experts and Ukrainian officials are skeptical about the feasibility of achieving this goal, stating that it is more realistic to expect a draft of around 100,000 individuals.
As reported, in the last two months, 98% of summons have been received by citizens who do not pay taxes and are not registered as employed.
Additionally, Ukraine's Defense Minister Rustem Umerov stated the need to continue mobilization in Ukraine in 2025.
