According to The Sun: Four million people receive unemployment benefits without the obligation to look for work. This is half the number of eight million individuals who receive Universal Credit. Data from the Department for Work and Pensions increases pressure on Chancellor Rachel Reeves, as a few months ago a £5 billion welfare reform plan was put on hold.
Reform UK’s Lee Anderson said:
The level of unemployment and benefits received by the unemployed raises concerns among analysts. This indicates the challenges facing the government amid economic instability.
Given the global economic situation, the issue of social reforms is becoming particularly urgent. Effective solutions need to be found that not only support the unemployed but also stimulate employment growth in the country.
