Galushchenko explained whether power outages will return due to the cold.

The Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko reported that the schedule of electricity outages in Ukraine depends on Russia's attacks on energy facilities. He noted that the cold does not affect the operation of the energy system, but Russian attacks negatively impact the situation.
"The only thing that affects is the consequences of the attacks. Unfortunately, they occur every day. Recently, we lost a significant amount of generating capacity that still needs to be restored," the minister stated.
According to Galushchenko, a large number of facilities have been damaged due to the attacks. He emphasized that only attacks on the energy system can truly influence the situation.
"In the last few days, there have been many damages. Overall, the system is functioning, and we do not restrict household consumers. Some temporary measures have been introduced in a few regions for the industry. I am confident that we will emerge from the heating season victorious," he added.
It is worth recalling that the restoration of energy facilities in Ukraine, damaged as a result of Russian shelling, continues. In 2024, it was possible to restore 4 GW of capacity, and this year it is planned to restore another 3 GW.
The Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko noted that the past year was the hardest for Ukrainian energy since the beginning of the Russian invasion. Strikes occurred throughout 2023.
Connection of 967 MW of distributed gas generation is set to be completed by the end of 2024, with 835 MW already operational. By the end of the current heating season, another 900 MW is planned to be connected, and some capacities are in the final stages of implementation.
Representatives of the 'Ukrenergo' company assure that information about power outages due to the cold is not true.
