Five thousand UAH in the 'School Package' — what is definitely not allowed to be purchased.
It will not be possible to withdraw money from the 'School Package' for a smartphone — it can only be spent on stationery, clothing and footwear. This was stated by the First Deputy Minister of Social Policy
Daria Marchak.
How can these funds be used?
According to Marchak, this money is basic support from the state. She noted: 'If a family can afford to buy a smartphone for a first grader, that's good, but it's not a mandatory expense for the family.'
Therefore, this money can only be spent on stationery, clothing and footwear.
Who will receive financial assistance and in what amount?
Marchak explained that this assistance will be provided for each child who is going to school for the first time. In the case of twins or children of the same age, the family will receive five thousand hryvnias for each child.
Only one of the parents or the guardian of the child can receive the assistance. It is important that the child is enrolled in school, even if one of the parents is abroad. This is an important clarification from Daria Marchak.
Other support for families in Ukraine
The government also plans to increase the one-time assistance after the birth of a child to 50 thousand hryvnias and allocate seven thousand hryvnias to women without employment history upon the birth of a child. In addition, Switzerland has launched a grant program for citizens of Ukraine, where it is possible to receive up to 132,500 hryvnias. Registration for participation continues until July 19.
