The USA and Ukraine finalize a bilateral document on security guarantees.
According to ТСН: The bilateral agreement on security guarantees for Ukraine from the United States is practically ready. The next step is its finalization at the highest level.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky shared this news on Telegram.
“(Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council - ed.) Rustem Umerov reported on the results of our team’s negotiations in France yesterday. The bilateral document on security guarantees for Ukraine is essentially ready for finalization at the highest level with the President of the United States,” Zelensky stated.
The President emphasized that Ukraine is managing to unify the efforts of European and American teams. Joint discussions were also held regarding documents related to reconstruction and economic development.
“Difficult issues concerning the basic framework for ending the war were also discussed, and the Ukrainian side presented possible options for finalizing this document. We understand that the American side will communicate with Russia, and we expect feedback on whether the aggressor is really ready to end the war,” he added.
Zelensky also noted that upon returning to Kyiv, the Ukrainian negotiation team will report on all the details of the meetings.
“We also inform our partners about the consequences of Russian strikes. In this context, it is necessary for the pressure on Russia to increase as intensively as the negotiating teams are working. The realism of future security guarantees must be proven by the partners' ability to exert effective pressure on the aggressor at this stage,” Zelensky added.
Earlier it was reported that Europe and the USA agreed on security guarantees for Ukraine in Paris. Allies presented a plan that includes long-term support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and potential deployment of foreign troops on Ukrainian territory after the ceasefire.
Currently, the results of the negotiations may significantly impact the further development of events in Ukraine. Expectations for feedback from American partners regarding Russia's position add new nuances to the situation. Furthermore, the developed security guarantees may become an important step in ensuring peace and stability in the region.
