Kyiv Confirms Strikes on Volgograd Refinery and Other Russian Targets.
Ukrainian Armed Forces Carry Out Successful Attacks
According to UATV: Ukraine's General Staff has confirmed that its forces successfully struck multiple Russian facilities, including the Volgograd Oil Refinery and other military assets. The attacks on May 29 targeted the Volgograd refinery, located in Volgograd, Russia, which has an annual capacity of approximately 14 million tons of crude oil. The strikes damaged several primary crude oil processing units: AVT-1, AVT-3, AVT-5, and AVT-6.
Additional hits were reported at the 'Yaroslavl-3' oil pumping station in the Yaroslavl region, where two oil storage tanks caught fire—one holding 50,000 cubic meters and another 20,000 cubic meters. Among the other objectives struck was a Tor-M2 surface-to-air missile system in the Zaporizhzhia region. Ukrainian forces also targeted a command observation post near Lyman Pershyi in Kharkiv Oblast and a logistics depot in Aidar, Luhansk Oblast.
Russian Refinery Operations Halted
On May 26, the General Staff confirmed that operations at the Syzran refinery in Russia had been halted due to earlier strikes. The list of affected assets also includes a Tor-M2 air defense system, a command post in Lyman Pershyi, drone control centers in Tetkino, Komara, and Nesteryanka, as well as a supply depot in Aidar.
The attacks spanned several regions, including:
- Novopetrovka and Novohryhorivka in Zaporizhzhia Oblast
- Rodynske in Donetsk Oblast
- Kleveni in Kursk Oblast
- Sychnyeve in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast
- Basivka in Sumy Oblast
These actions underscore the ongoing intensity of combat operations as Ukraine seeks to cripple Russia's military infrastructure. By targeting key energy and logistics nodes, Kyiv aims to degrade Moscow's ability to sustain its war effort. The front-line situation remains tense, and both sides continue to escalate their campaigns to achieve strategic objectives.
