According to Novyny.live: A citizen diagnosed with 'hypertrophic cardiomyopathy' inquired about the possibility of being deemed unfit for military service. According to attorney Yuriy Aivazian, while current legislation provides for this possibility, the final decision rests with the Military Medical Commission (MMC). This is a critical process in Ukraine, where military service is mandatory for many men.

The citizen's specific diagnosis is 'hypertrophic cardiomyopathy with minor obstruction'. The lawyer noted that, in accordance with Appendix 2 to Article 38 of Order No. 402 of the Ministry of Defense, an individual with this diagnosis may qualify for an unfit-for-service status. However, he also emphasized that a review of the schedule of diseases does not provide 100% certainty that the citizen will indeed be recognized as unfit for military duty.

Yuriy Aivazian added that in case of disagreement with the decision, the individual will have the right to appeal it to the regional Military Medical Commission.

This provides the citizen with an opportunity to protect his interests if the results of the medical examination do not meet his expectations.
