Chevrolet unveils new electric crossover for China: design and details

According to Korrespondent.net: General Motors has introduced a new concept of a compact sports electric crossover primarily targeting the Chinese market. The project was developed at the GM China Advanced Design studio in Shanghai, led by designer Charles Huang. This prototype showcases a possible direction for the design evolution of future small electric vehicles from Chevrolet.

The concept features a grille-less front with split lighting, and instead of a conventional grille, there is a smooth panel. Among the notable design elements, the illuminated Chevrolet logo stands out, adding visual appeal in the competitive Chinese electric vehicle market. As noted by the developers, the silhouette of the model is inspired by the shape of a 'free arrow': in early sketches, the body looks taut and dynamic, while in more realistic renders it appears more restrained but still maintains a sporty character.

Design Features

One of the most striking elements is the panoramic glazing that encompasses the top of the car and emphasizes the massive C-pillar. The combination of dark blue and black creates an image that attracts attention without appearing aggressive. If the oversized wheels and show-car stance are removed, the silhouette comes quite close to the serial models of Chevrolet for China, such as the Tracker RS or the previous version of the Bolt.

Technical Specifications

As the concept is still in the design stage, technical parameters are not being disclosed. GM does not provide details about the platform, battery, or powertrain. However, the overall proportions suggest a possible rear electric motor and a medium-capacity battery. The company is actively working on creating more affordable electric vehicles on a global scale, so this concept could serve as a visual prototype for future compact electric crossovers of the brand: clean surfaces, taut lines, an emphasis on practicality, and attractive design to capture the attention of young buyers in cities.

It is worth noting that it was previously reported that Chevrolet is resuming production of the electric hatchback Bolt.

Chevrolet is determined to actively innovate and respond to trends that demand greater capabilities and diversity in the electric vehicle lineup. Further news and details about the technical specifications of the concept are expected to be of interest to brand enthusiasts.
