Google Phone Exploded During Durability Test: First Case in 10 Years.
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold Smartphone Broke and Exploded During Testing
According to Korrespondent.net: Well-known blogger JerryRigEverything tested the new product – the Pixel 10 Pro Fold smartphone. During the testing, the device not only broke but also its battery exploded. This was the first such incident in ten years of the blogger's practice.
Issues with Design and Protection
According to the blogger, Google did not take past issues with models into account. As with the cases of the Pixel Fold and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, the new device broke in the same area – near the antenna, by the hinge. When the tester tried to bend the smartphone in the opposite direction, the body cracked and the battery caught fire.
The blogger also pointed out the unreliable protection according to the IP68 standard. Although Google claims to offer dust and water resistance, in reality, the hinge cannot withstand dust – after contact with dirt, the smartphone begins to make strange noises.
The blogger called the Pixel 10 Pro Fold 'the weakest foldable smartphone he has ever tested' and questioned the company's claims about 'reinforced construction.'
For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, despite having a thinner body, successfully passed a similar test without any damage.
It is also worth noting that recently there has been information that the chips in the new Pixel 10 do not meet the level of flagship versions from two years ago.

This incident may significantly affect Google's reputation in the foldable smartphone segment. The lack of adequate construction and ineffective protection may reduce interest in the new model, as users are likely to pay attention to the reliability and durability of their devices. In the context of competition in the market, where other brands dominate, such issues could become a serious challenge for the company.
