Business Support Initiative in Kharkiv Region

According to Novyny.live: In spring 2026, Ukrainian citizens will be able to apply for grants of up to $5,000 through a business support program run by the Danish Refugee Council in the Kharkiv region. This effort focuses on aiding micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, marking a key step toward revitalizing the local economy.

Eligible businesses must have at least two years of operational experience and an annual turnover not exceeding 9 million hryvnias. Priority will go to vulnerable households, including:

  • single parents,
  • individuals with disabilities,
  • conflict-affected persons,
  • businesses that create or retain jobs.

Sectors such as agriculture and related fields are highlighted as eligible for participation.

Grant funds can cover:

  • equipment purchases,
  • rent for premises,
  • repair of damaged facilities.

Applications can be submitted online, streamlining the process for accessing financial support.

Financial Assistance from UNHCR

Additionally, in April, UNHCR plans to launch financial aid under new guidelines, which could further boost Ukraine's business environment. In other regions like Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, and Mykolaiv, businesses can secure grants of up to 237,000 hryvnias through the 'REMARKET' program.

Overall, the Danish Refugee Council's business support program aims to help rebuild the Kharkiv region's economy and give entrepreneurs the financial boost they need to grow their ventures.

This initiative is a crucial step toward fostering economic stability in Ukraine, particularly amid the ongoing challenges following the conflict.

Supporting micro, small, and medium-sized businesses is vital for creating jobs and driving economic growth, especially in regions that have suffered the most. The program also underscores the role of international organizations in promoting recovery and business development across Ukraine.
