Greek Fishermen Uncover Ukrainian War Relics: Drone and Rocket Battery Found at Sea.
Military Equipment Discovered Off the Greek Coast
According to Espreso.tv: What initially appeared to be a Ukrainian naval mine turned out to be something quite different. Greek fishermen recovered an object later identified as a 9M33 missile pressure accumulator, a component of the Soviet-era Osa surface-to-air missile system. Alongside it, a drone believed to be a Ukrainian Mamai-type unmanned aerial vehicle was also found.
After the initial discovery raised alarm, military experts and scientists conducted a thorough examination. They confirmed the object was not a sea mine but a clearly identifiable part of the Osa system, with distinctive technical features leaving no doubt about its origin.
Drone Incident Sparks Tensions
Regarding the drone found near the island of Lefkada, the company Magura (UFORSE) has denied that it is one of their products. Nonetheless, Greek authorities identified it as a Ukrainian Mamai attack drone. In response, Greece has demanded an apology from Kyiv, highlighting growing friction between the two nations.
These events unfold amid heightened security discussions in the region:
- On May 8, a Ukrainian Magura V3 naval drone was also discovered, raising further questions about unmanned vehicle activity in this part of the Mediterranean.
- On May 13, additional details about the newly found drone were released, adding complexity to an already tense situation.
The recovery of Ukrainian-linked military hardware in Greece underscores escalating risks and diplomatic strains between Ukraine and European nations, especially against the backdrop of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. These incidents could reshape political and diplomatic ties, while also prompting new concerns about security in the Mediterranean, where drone and military technology activity is increasingly visible.
