Buckwheat prices have soared by 15%: when to expect a peak in price increases.
According to inkorr.com: Ukrainians have been warned about a sudden increase in prices for popular buckwheat. Over the past six weeks, prices for this grain in Ukraine have risen by 10-15%. Experts note that the trend of rising prices has not yet stopped.
Problem with stocks and rising purchase prices
Prices have risen due to the depletion of stocks from last year's harvest and a sharp increase in purchase prices for fresh raw materials. This, in turn, has led to a 40% increase in the price of buckwheat grain.
Sergiy Hromovyy: 'Many people receive minimal wages, while the price of food is approaching European levels. This is a real tragedy.'
Currently, the price of buckwheat ranges from 37 to 38 hryvnias per kilogram, but in the coming weeks, it could rise to 40-42 hryvnias.
Weather impact on the situation
Constant rains in autumn complicated the harvest process. Additional drying is needed to prepare the grain for sale, which increases costs due to problems with energy supply.
Import risks and price forecasts
Experts believe that the price of buckwheat is unlikely to exceed 50 hryvnias. Importers may stop further price increases, but much depends on the security and logistics situation in the country.
Earlier, potential consequences of the war on the prices of 'the second bread' were reported.
Ukrainians can expect further price increases for buckwheat due to depletion of stocks, rising processing costs, and problems with energy supply. This will become a serious challenge for many, as incomes are not growing as quickly as prices.
