Ukraine’s Military Intelligence Reveals Details of Crimea Attack: MiG-29 and Seven Russian Aircraft Destroyed.
Recent Strikes on Russian Military Assets
According to Espreso.tv: Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (GUR) has disclosed new information about a series of attacks on Russian airfields and ports, which inflicted heavy losses on Moscow’s military equipment. On the night of June 25–26, 2023, a strike targeted the Belbek airfield in Crimea, destroying a Russian MiG-29 fighter jet and burning an airfield launch system. The damage caused to the aggressor is estimated to be worth tens of millions of dollars.
Then, on the night of July 3–4, 2023, fires erupted at Russian ports in the Baltic region and Saint Petersburg, while a blackout hit the city of Belgorod. Ukraine’s General Staff confirmed that a Russian helicopter was hit in the Azov Sea area. Additionally, between July 1–2, 2023, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) struck the Saky and Hvardiiske airfields in Crimea for the second time in a week, destroying at least seven aircraft. These incidents highlight escalating pressure on Russian military sites in the region.
Impact on Military Operations
The significant losses inflicted on Russian military installations could disrupt the Kremlin’s future operations in Ukraine, while also signaling a surge in Ukrainian offensive activity. These strikes showcase Ukraine’s growing strategic initiative in the war, potentially boosting morale among both Ukrainian troops and civilians.
Furthermore, such actions may strengthen international support for Ukraine in its fight against the aggressor.
