Honda introduced the key electric crossover: what is known about model 0 Alpha

According to Korrespondent.net: At the Japan Mobility Show, Honda presented its new electric crossover - Honda 0 α (Alpha) for the first time. According to Carscoops, while it carries the status of a prototype, the car is practically ready for mass production and will appear on the market in the next two years.

Main features and legacy of the Honda 0 series

The 0 α model is part of the Honda 0 series, which also includes the 0 Saloon and 0 SUV models, presented earlier this year. According to the company, Alpha will be an 'entry model' in the lineup — a compact and affordable electric vehicle for the global market. Production is scheduled for 2027, with Japan and India being the primary sales markets.

Design and technologies

In terms of design, the 0 α resembles the larger 0 SUV, but has smaller dimensions and an improved front bumper with aggressive accents. The model retains the illuminated Honda logo, and its rear is decorated with a U-shaped LED strip on the trunk lid. Thanks to the enlarged rear window, the car will also provide better visibility.

Although technical specifications have not yet been disclosed, Honda confirmed that the 0 α is created under the principle of 'Thin, Light, and Wise,' which involves an ultra-thin battery and a compact e-Axle electric drive. This approach reduces the height of the cabin floor and increases interior space without compromising ground clearance.

The new crossover is expected to cover at least 483 km on a single charge and will feature level three autonomous driving with the ability to drive without the driver's eye control during traffic jams on the highway.

Platform and potential markets

The models in the 0 series are developed on a shared platform by Honda and Sony, which is also used for the Afeela electric car. Presumably, the 0 α will receive the same architecture. It is currently unknown whether the company plans to sell the new model in the North American market or if it will be equipped with an NACS charging port.
