Incident at the Airport
In dramatic footage, the man can be seen standing by the counter in a travel agency, demanding assistance.
He was likely under the influence of alcohol and began to create a commotion while the manager tried to calm him down.
He ordered her to leave, but when other staff approached him, he started threatening them. Suddenly, the man ignited and raced towards the staff who were trying to pull him from the flames.
One of the workers attempted to extinguish the flames with a fire extinguisher, but the man fell to the floor, groaning and covered in white powder; his shirt had burned off during the incident.
The man was rushed to the hospital where he is fighting for his life. This shocking incident occurred on August 25 at around 10:00 PM in Terminal 1 of the airport.
Remarks from the Travel Agency Director
The director of the travel agency where the incident occurred shared details of the event:
“He came in, asked for a phone, started calling someone, said he had missed his flight, and then doused himself in gasoline.”
“Our agent asked for permission to leave, and he allowed her to go, and then he set himself on fire.”
The manager noted that the worker did not panic and acted quickly and decisively.
One of the airport workers mentioned that the man had asked to purchase him a ticket. He entered the office to call his wife but ended up causing a dangerous scene by dousing himself in gasoline.
Investigations are currently underway to determine how he managed to bring gasoline into the airport; he likely obtained it from the nearest gas station.
An investigation has been launched to clarify the circumstances surrounding this self-immolation.
