Release of the main suspect in the McKean case: will the hope of unraveling the mystery of the disappearance vanish?.
Release of the suspect in the Madeleine McCann case
According to The Sun: It is hard to accept this reality, but if the main suspect in the Madeleine McCann case, Christian Bruckner, disappears after being released from prison, it will take away all hopes of investigating this case. The responsibility for such a situation, unfortunately, lies with already known figures.
49-year-old Christian Bruckner received only seven years in prison for tying up, torturing, and raping a pensioner in 2005 in Praia da Luz, the town from which Madeleine disappeared two years later. Now he is free.

Bruckner was convicted in 2019 when witnesses and DNA confirmed his connection to this horrific crime. Before that, he already had numerous convictions for raping young girls. His obsession with violent attacks has raised concerns among the public.
Unfortunately, thanks to lenient justice measures in Germany, he is now free, despite warnings that he may commit a new crime. This is a term that an aggressive robber would serve in Britain.
One inmate told The Sun that the JVA Sehnde prison where Bruckner was held is "like Starbucks" — with comfortable conditions, plenty of coffee, and individual televisions for each inmate.
Unfortunately, Bruckner's meager sentence is not an isolated case in Germany.
Critics have described the legal system as so ridiculous that it has become 'friendly' to criminals and a 'blessing' for aggressive offenders and sexual attackers.
It is hard to imagine how Bruckner, considering these circumstances, could disappear without a trace after his release.
In Hanover, less than ten miles from the prison where Bruckner was held, the situation also raises concerns. Here, a man known as the "Maschsee Killer" openly leads an active social media life despite his horrific crime.
In 1997, Alexander K. lured his girlfriend to Maschsee Lake, strangled her, dismembered her body, and discarded the parts into the water. He received only 15 years in prison, and after serving his term, he was released, despite the brutality of his crime.
Alexander has become popular on TikTok, where he shares his experiences and openly talks about his dark past.

Such situations surrounding Bruckner and his release alarm human rights activists.
Bruckner has officially been released and left the high-security prison in Sehnde. His release occurred at 9:15 AM local time.
Before leaving in his lawyer's black Audi A6, he even had breakfast. One of the shocking photos shows Bruckner in a red and white striped shirt raising his hand in the air.
He is considering the possibility of fleeing Germany, raising concerns that he may escape to a country that does not extradite criminals and evade justice, even if Madeleine's case gets a new chance. Authorities are monitoring him, he has been assigned an electronic bracelet, and his passport has been confiscated. But there is still concern that Bruckner may flee, as a passport is not required for travel within Europe.
If he crosses the German border, the electronic bracelet will stop working, making it difficult to track him.
Unfortunately, the German legal system allows such situations. Prosecutors, courts, and police can only operate within the framework of their country's legislation, which clearly tilts in favor of the suspect in Madeleine's case.
In the UK, murder carries an automatic life sentence. While in Germany, most murderers can expect to be released after 15 years, aggressive rapes, such as Bruckner's case, can lead to imprisonment for up to 15 years — or more, if there are aggravating circumstances.
Thus, German authorities face challenges in imposing electronic bracelets, as shown by Bruckner's case. After release, there are often fewer conditions imposed — sometimes none at all — and post-release monitoring can be reduced to a simple phone call once a week, even for offenders who pose a threat to society.
The fact that the German legal system paves the way for victim abuse raises concerns about public safety.

The danger that he may commit crimes again raises legitimate concerns, as his past signals the possibility of reoffending. Now it is crucial that law enforcement agencies remain vigilant and ensure monitoring of his behavior. Read also
