Elon Musk stated that he is not interested in buying the video hosting TikTok.
Elon Musk declined to purchase TikTok
American billionaire engineer Elon Musk informed that he has no intention of acquiring the Chinese video hosting TikTok. He made this statement during the virtual economic summit WELT, which was broadcasted by CNN.
«I did not place a bet on TikTok and I have no intention of making decisions about what I would do if I had TikTok», - Musk said.
Rumors have emerged that Musk, who is the richest person in the world, could be one of the potential buyers of TikTok, but he dismisses this idea.
Recall that on January 18, TikTok stopped its operations in the United States, but later resumed after President Trump's statement about delaying the ban on the social network. The ban was implemented after a congressional court ruling that received support from the Supreme Court, and was signed by Joe Biden in April.
On January 25, Trump stated that he is currently discussing the possibility of acquiring TikTok «with very influential people». In return, according to Trump, preserving this social network for American users will bring economic benefits to the USA.
Earlier, Donald Trump stated that he was ready for Elon Musk to acquire TikTok. But later Trump signed an order requiring the U.S. Department of Treasury and Commerce to create a charitable fund that could make the purchase of TikTok.
