'No other options are possible': Stefanchuk reacted to Putin's statement on negotiations.
Chairman of the Parliament Ruslan Stefanchuk responded to the statements of the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin regarding 'possible compromises and negotiations with Ukraine.'
At a briefing in the Verkhovna Rada, Stefanchuk stated that the basis of any peace agreement must be the conditions of Ukraine as a victim of Russian aggression.
The Chairman of the Parliament reiterated that Russia is the aggressor and Ukraine is the victim. He refers to the principles of the UN, as outlined in the organization's charter, and demands their implementation.
'Our position is unchanged. Russia must return to complying with international law. The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, proposed a peace formula that we support,' Stefanchuk noted.
At the same Time, Stefanchuk stated that Ukraine is ready to consider initiatives from partners to end the war. However, he stated that Ukraine does not want to receive 'peacekeeping proposals' from third parties that do not take the country's position into account.
'Only the opinion of Ukraine should be decisive when we consider the issue of ending the war and establishing peace. No other options exist,' the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada emphasized.
Earlier, Putin expressed readiness for agreements with Zelensky under certain conditions.
