Iran Allows 20 Pakistani Tankers Through the Strait of Hormuz: Two Vessels Granted Daily Passage.
Transit of Tankers Through the Strait of Hormuz
According to UATV: Iran has authorized 20 Pakistani oil tankers to cross the Strait of Hormuz. Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed the development, noting that two ships will transit the waterway each day. This decision is expected to bolster trade relations between the two countries, as the strait serves as a critical chokepoint for global energy shipments.
Thailand has also secured an agreement with Iran for the safe passage of its oil tankers. Thai Foreign Minister Anutin Charnvirakul announced that the deal was successfully finalized to ensure the secure movement of vessels through the strategic waterway.
Pakistan Offers to Mediate
In a related move, Pakistan has expressed its willingness to act as a mediator in talks between the United States and Iran, a role that could help ease tensions between the two nations. These developments highlight Iran’s active engagement in international diplomacy and its openness to cooperation with neighboring states.
Opening the strait for tanker transit marks a significant step in strengthening economic ties between Iran and Pakistan, potentially contributing to regional stability. Furthermore, Pakistan’s potential involvement in U.S.-Iran negotiations could help reduce friction in their bilateral relations and improve the broader international political climate. Iran’s push for collaboration with its neighbors reflects its broader ambition to solidify its standing on the world stage.
