Two hostages found dead in Gaza: Israeli army continues offensive

According to The Sun: The Israeli operation to recover the bodies of two hostages from Gaza continued despite active hostilities in Gaza City, which had been declared a 'danger zone'.

Among the deceased was Ilan Weiss, 56. He was killed defending his community in Kibbutz Beeri during the attacks on October 7.

Weiss's wife and daughter were captured but were released during a temporary ceasefire in November.

A part of the body of another hostage, whose identity has not yet been established, was also returned, according to the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Netanyahu stated on Friday: “The campaign for the release of hostages continues without pause. We will not rest or be silent until we bring all our hostages home — both alive and deceased.”

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz expressed “deep condolences” to the Weiss family, emphasizing his bravery during the defensive battles in Beeri: “He fought valiantly and prevented an even greater catastrophe.”

He promised: “We will not rest and will not stop until everyone is back home.”

The Forum of Families of Hostages and Missing Persons reported that despite the 'sorrow and pain', the return of Weiss’s body “provides some relief to the family after 692 days of waiting in a nightmare of uncertainty.”
