This was done as a result of a fighter's strike on a school where a Hamas command post was located. In total, about 20 militants and senior commanders were in this building.

The Gaza Strip Civil Defense Agency reports the death of up to 100 people due to this strike, but this information is denied by the Israeli army. It is worth mentioning that Israel agreed to negotiations with Hamas regarding a ceasefire and the release of hostages in the Gaza Strip.
