Canada Opposes Easing Russian Oil Sanctions Amid U.S.-Iran Energy Crisis.
Standing Firm on Russian Oil Restrictions
According to UATV: As the U.S. military operation in Iran drives global energy turmoil, Canada is pushing back against any relaxation of sanctions on Russian oil. Prime Minister Mark Carney has stressed the need to maintain existing penalties against Moscow, while also reinforcing measures aimed at the shadow fleet responsible for transporting Russian crude.
Members of the so-called "coalition of the willing" have also voiced support for keeping sanctions in place, underscoring a unified commitment to uphold restrictions. European Commission spokesperson Paula Pinho noted that short-term turbulence in energy markets should not derail the European Union's long-term goal of phasing out Russian fuel.
As is well known, Iran and Russia have collaborated very closely, to the detriment of the people of Ukraine, and have posed a serious threat to peace and security in Europe.

While ongoing volatility in energy markets continues to fuel debate over the wisdom and effectiveness of sanctions, Canada and its allies remain resolute in maintaining pressure on Russia amid the protracted conflict in Ukraine. Crucially, the international community is holding together on this issue, even as energy security concerns test their resolve.
