Tesco gives away free tampons: how to get a box for £3.
According to The Sun: Women spend nearly £4,000 on hygiene during menstruation throughout their lives, which creates significant financial pressure for them.
Even after the tampon tax was abolished in 2021, the cost of hygiene products remains a major burden.
This year, Tesco aims to ease this burden for its customers by giving away free boxes of tampons worth over £3.
“Keep an eye on the Tesco receipts,” urged Georgie Rue on Facebook.“We just bought a shirt and received this voucher for a free Tampax Pearl Compak worth £3.35.”
According to Tesco's website, packs of 16 Tampax Pearl Compak tampons are currently supported by the supermarket.
Shoppers noted on social media that even if they do not need these products, someone will definitely need help.
“We received this the other day,” said Emma James.“And for those who receive a voucher but do not need the product, please still take it and donate it to charities or children's organizations.”
The issue of period poverty is so relevant that it affects the health of many women and girls in the UK. In August 2017, Tesco became the first British supermarket to autonomously address this issue by covering 5% VAT on tampons.
