Consumer feedback
However, the new recipe did not please many fans. Some stated that they would stop buying this product after decades of use.
“What happened to All Bran @KelloggsUK?”
“The 'new recipe' tastes terrible, the texture is hard and inedible, like tasteless twigs.”
“I’ve been buying it for years since my mom made great breakfast in the 70s, but I won't buy it anymore.”
Another user wrote: “Kellogg’s changed the recipe of their All Bran. It’s no longer a branded product – cheap and tasteless.”
“They sacrificed taste for profit. It’s definitely not worth the extra cost.”
Another fan noted that the new recipe has an “unpleasant aftertaste” and is “less comfortable to eat.”
Tesco customers were also not thrilled, leaving negative feedback on the supermarket’s website, describing this breakfast as “absolutely disgusting.”
“I haven't eaten All Bran for years and bought it recently, only to find it’s absolutely disgusting,” wrote one customer.
“I ate only a few spoonfuls before I gave up.”
Another buyer described the new All-Bran pieces as “tasteless, gray strips of recycled cardboard that look like they are coated in a thin layer of plastic.”
Kellogg’s All-Bran has been on supermarket shelves in the UK since 1922 and contains pieces of wheat bran enriched with vitamins and iron.
A Kellanova representative stated:
“At Kellogg’s, we have over 100 years of experience in making breakfasts that people love, and we are always looking for ways to improve.”
“We know how much our loyal customers value All-Bran, so when we started updating the recipe, we tested extensively to ensure they love the new taste.”
“Our new All-Bran pieces are crispier and better maintain their shape, which means less food waste.”
“Additionally, each serving still provides more than 1/3 (36%) of the daily fiber requirement for adults, contributing to healthy bowel function, and is also a source of vitamins and iron.”
These changes occurred after Kellogg’s discontinued the popular All-Bran Golden Crunch breakfast last year, causing outrage among consumers.
The situation surrounding the change in the All-Bran recipe sparked lively discussion among consumers. Despite the company’s efforts to modernize the product, the negative reaction indicates how important it is for brands to preserve the traditional taste that consumers love. Further steps by Kellogg’s may either be an attempt to correct mistakes or confirmation that business strategies outweigh consumer preferences.
