New Kia K4 for Europe: how it differs from the American version

According to Korrespondent.net: Kia has announced that the new K4 hatchback will appear in European dealerships this winter. This model is set to replace the Ceed and is manufactured in Mexico, where the versions for the USA are also assembled. However, only the hatchback version will be available in the European market, while in the USA both body types – sedan and hatchback – will be offered.

Engine Features

The European version of the K4 differs significantly from the American one. In the USA, the base version has a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter engine with 147 hp, while the European model starts with a turbocharged 1.0-liter unit with 113 hp, which may have a mild hybrid system or run without one. This engine works in conjunction with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed DCT automatic.

In higher trims, both regions receive shared 1.6-liter turbo engines, but Europe offers options of 148 and 178 hp, while the USA has only 190 hp. All these modifications are equipped only with the DCT transmission. A full hybrid version of the K4 is planned for 2026.

Design and Comfort

The hatchback has a wheelbase of 2720 mm, providing excellent space for rear passengers. The trunk volume is 438 liters for the standard model, while the hybrid K4's figure decreases to 328 liters due to additional equipment.

The interior features a familiar panoramic display, 12.3-inch instruments, a 5.3-inch climate control screen, and a 12.3-inch multimedia system. The base trim includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an AI-based voice assistant. In higher versions, wireless charging and Harman Kardon sound system are available.

Pricing Policy

Prices for the K4 in Europe have not yet been announced, but it is projected that the car will be in line with the Golf or slightly cheaper. For comparison, in the UK, the base version of the VW Golf Life with a 1.5-liter engine with 150 hp starts from £28150.

It is worth noting that Kia has also previously unveiled the restyled Sportage.
