Kyiv Introduces Emergency Power Outages

According to Novyny.live: On March 14, 2023, the city of Kyiv implemented emergency power outages and temporarily halted electric public transit due to enemy shelling. The electricity cuts were ordered by the national grid operator, Ukrenergo, to stabilize the power network amid the crisis.

Restrictions on Electric Transit Movements

The restrictions on electric transit affect several areas of the capital, including:

  • Holosiivskyi Avenue
  • Lybidska and Demiivska Squares
  • Teremky
  • Pechersk
  • The area near Trolleybus Depot No. 1

This has caused delays for trolleybus routes No. 22K, 27, 30, and 42, as well as tram routes No. 14 and 15, which operate on Degtyarivska, Oleksandr Dovzhenko, and Olena Teliha Streets.

In the town of Brovary, the shelling resulted in two fatalities and four injuries. In response to these events, the energy company DTEK urged the public:

“Please use electricity wisely if you currently have it, to help stabilize the system.”

Bus routes that remain active include:

  • No. 45TR — Vystavkovyi Tsentr metro station — Vasylkivska metro station
  • No. 38TR — Vydubychi metro station — Museum of the History of Ukraine in World War II
  • No. 43K — Kibtsentr — Lybidska Square

Passengers are advised to monitor schedule changes during this emergency.

This situation highlights the severe challenges Ukraine faces amid the war. Enemy attacks not only cause casualties but also disrupt critical infrastructure like power supply and public transit. It is crucial for both the population and relevant services to be prepared for swift and effective responses to such emergencies.
