According to Espreso.tv: On July 24, 2023, Russian forces launched a ballistic missile attack on a military training ground in Kyiv Oblast. Three missiles—Iskander-M and S-400 systems—struck around 11:30 a.m., with one intercepted by air defenses. The assault killed 11 people and wounded approximately 100 others. At the time, a weapons exhibition was underway on the site, which likely drew the crowd that became the target.
Among the deceased was Valentina Savitska, deputy head of the Center for International Cooperation and Strategic Communications within the State Guard of Ukraine. The attack occurred during Russia’s full-scale invasion, underscoring the persistent threat to both civilians and officials even in areas far from the front lines.
Aftermath and Response
The exhibition’s organizer was detained on July 25 on suspicion of negligence. On July 27, the death toll rose to 11 after a 66-year-old Ukrainian citizen and diplomat of the Order of Malta succumbed to injuries. The same day, a court ordered the organizer held in pretrial detention for 60 days.
Local residents voiced outrage and fear.
“This was a Russian attack on their homes,”said a resident named Yulia.
“I managed to talk a bit with the locals,”noted Dmytro Didora, who commented on the scene. This tragedy highlights the severe risks posed by the ongoing conflict and the deep concern within the community over safety and stability.
