Flu and Respiratory Illness Rates in Kyiv
According to TSN.ua: Kyiv has reported a significant increase in flu and acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI), including COVID-19. During the 6th week of 2026, authorities registered 11,049 new cases of respiratory illness, marking a 7.4% rise compared to the previous week. The incidence intensity indicator reached 374.3. This uptick is a common seasonal pattern but underscores the ongoing circulation of respiratory viruses.
Of the newly ill, 6,326 were adults and 4,723 were children. Specifically, 2,453 cases were recorded among school-aged children. Regarding COVID-19, 25 people fell ill, comprising 21 adults and 4 children under 17. Hospitalizations totaled 428 patients for flu and ARVI, including 212 children. For COVID-19, 8 individuals were hospitalized, one of whom was a child.
One adult COVID-19 patient required intensive care. Tragically, the week also saw 6 flu-related fatalities, including one child aged 10. This situation demands heightened vigilance from both healthcare institutions and the public to curb further viral spread.

The rising incidence of flu and ARVI in Kyiv highlights the urgent need for active prevention and treatment measures, particularly population vaccination.
