Severe environmental violations in the Podilskyi district of Kiev

According to Novyny.live: On April 1, the director of a company in the Podilskyi district of Kiev received an official notice of suspicion. He is accused of exceeding permissible limits for air pollutants by more than twenty times. The resulting environmental damage is estimated at over 2.5 million hryvnias.

Specifically, almost eleven times as much carbon monoxide and nearly twenty times as much sulfur dioxide were measured as allowed. These values indicate serious violations of environmental regulations that have significantly affected air quality in the region. Residents from several neighborhoods spoke out:

  • Syrez
  • Kurenivka
  • Nywky
  • Samkowyschtsche
  • Potschajna
  • Obolon
  • Lukjaniwka

They expressed complaints about the polluted air and its effects on their health and quality of life.

The director faces three to six years of imprisonment under Articles 241 and 364-1 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code. The case highlights how important compliance with environmental standards is and what consequences companies must face for polluting the environment.

Need for stricter air quality control

This incident brings the issue of air pollution in Ukraine back into focus and underscores the urgent need for stricter controls on industrial enterprises. Especially in densely populated areas, such emissions can massively endanger public health. It is therefore essential that authorities continue to take consistent action against environmental violations and ensure the protection of nature and citizens.
