Repairing Kyiv's Thermal Power Plants

According to TSN.ua: Ukrainian MP Serhiy Nahorniak has stated that Kyiv's thermal power plants (TPPs) are reparable, though a full restoration will demand significant time and resources. Repair efforts are already underway at one TPP that sustained the heaviest barrage of Russian missile and drone strikes.

Ukraine's energy system remains in a state of emergency, declared on January 31. Nahorniak noted that energy workers require between 24 and 36 hours to stabilize the national grid. He expressed hope that power would be restored to all city residents in the near future.

'There are still issues with one of Kyiv's TPPs, which was hit by the largest number of Russian missiles and drones. Repair work continues there. This work is aimed at restarting the thermal power plant. We are not yet talking about a full restoration, as that requires both resources and time,' Serhiy Nahorniak stated.

The MP also shared his hope for a swift restoration of the energy supply:

'God willing, light will return to all residents of Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities within two hours. However, according to the energy workers' own forecasts, they need 24 to 36 hours to stabilize the energy system and fully restore generation at nuclear power plants.'

The Urgency of Restoring Power Supply

Therefore, the restoration of Kyiv's TPPs remains a pressing issue, with energy sector efforts focused on returning to a stable power supply as quickly as possible.

Repairing Kyiv's thermal power plant is a crucial step for ensuring the stability of Ukraine's national grid. This comes as the country's energy infrastructure faces immense strain from ongoing hostilities, making a rapid recovery vital for sustaining civilian life and the national economy.
