Chisinau Airport Unveils Electronic Gate System to Streamline Passenger Flow.
New Control System at Chisinau Airport
According to Novyny.live: Chisinau International Airport has introduced a new automated control system for passengers traveling with carry-on luggage who have checked in online. As part of this upgrade, nine electronic gates have been installed throughout the terminal to expedite the security process. Five gates are operational in the departure area, two are located in the arrivals zone, and one is reserved for official delegations.
The total project cost was 7 million Moldovan lei, equivalent to approximately 413,000 US dollars. The implemented PAX Track technology monitors passenger movement at every stage: from check-in, through security screening, to boarding. This system aims to enhance operational efficiency and significantly reduce waiting times and queues.
Benefits of the New Technology
How does it work in practice? A video creator who documented the new system noted that while many passengers initially seem confused when approaching the gate, the procedure is actually straightforward. Passengers simply need to scan their boarding pass, after which the gate opens automatically. This greatly simplifies the process for those who have completed online check-in, eliminating the need to queue at traditional counters.
As emphasized by the airport's press service, the new system saves time, improves comfort, and helps to evenly distribute the flow of people.
This investment in electronic gates is part of a broader trend among regional airports to modernize infrastructure and improve the passenger experience. The implementation at Chisinau Airport is designed to elevate service quality and optimize the travel journey for all users.
This step is set to substantially change the traveler experience by cutting wait times and making the security process more transparent and convenient. Through the PAX Track technology, the airport hopes not only to enhance service but also to reduce crowding, which is particularly important given heightened security requirements.
The introduction of such innovative solutions may also positively impact the airport's reputation and its ability to attract new airlines, as passenger convenience becomes an increasingly critical factor when carriers select airports for their routes.
