China Not Providing Lethal Weapons to Russia, Says Ukrainian Official

According to TSN.ua: Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has stated that, according to Ukrainian intelligence, China is not supplying lethal weapons to the Russian Federation. He emphasized the significance of economic cooperation between Ukraine and China, noting that Kyiv is unaware of any such arms transfers taking place. This statement comes amid ongoing international scrutiny of China's position regarding the war in Ukraine.

Sybiha also revealed that bilateral trade between Ukraine and China reached $21 billion in 2022. He stressed that China is currently Ukraine's most important trading partner, a status that holds considerable weight for the future development of relations between the two nations.

Progress in Talks and Economic Cooperation

The Foreign Minister reported progress from two rounds of trilateral consultations held in Abu Dhabi, highlighting efforts to advance cooperation between Ukraine and China. The importance of this economic partnership is becoming increasingly clear, given the substantial trade volume and ongoing strategic dialogue.

Confirmation that China is not arming Russia may indicate Beijing's desire to maintain a degree of neutrality in the ongoing conflict. This position could potentially open new avenues for further cooperation between Kyiv and Beijing, particularly in the spheres of economic development and investment, as Ukraine seeks to stabilize and rebuild.
