China Launches Production of New Detector
According to Korrespondent.net: China has announced the start of serial production of the world's first four-channel single-photon detector of a new generation, which features an ultra-low noise level. This device can be used in a variety of fields — from everyday communication to national security. The information was reported by the publication South China Morning Post.
The device, known as a 'photon catcher', is capable of detecting a single photon — the smallest unit of energy. This makes it an important component in modern technologies, particularly in quantum communication and quantum radars designed to detect and track low-observable aircraft.
According to media reports, this concerns tracking aircraft such as the F-22.
The detector was developed by the Quantum Information Engineering Research Center located in the Anhui province of China. This news was previously published by the Science and Technology Daily, which is affiliated with China's Ministry of Science and Technology.
It is also worth noting that Chinese researchers have presented a compact deep-sea cutter designed to cut armored underwater cables through which 95% of the world's internet traffic and energy communications pass.
In addition, Chinese scientists are completing tests of a high-speed train.
