China has created 2857 military contracts for AI: what this means for the world.
China mixes civilian and military artificial intelligence
According to inkorr.com: Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council, noted that China is actively integrating civilian and military technologies in the field of artificial intelligence. He emphasized that the country has a military-civil integration strategy aimed at creating an 'intelligent army' capable of competing with the USA and its allies.
'According to analysts at CSET, in 2023-2024, the People's Liberation Army of China has signed 2,857 contracts for artificial intelligence. More than 1,500 different organizations are involved in these agreements. Of these, 70% are private companies established after 2010 that have offered various technologies for military use,' Kovalenko explained.
According to him, state companies such as CETC, CASC, and NORINCO play a key role in this process, receiving the largest contracts for the development of military technologies. The active cooperation of universities and civilian higher educational institutions with the defense sector is also important.
Experts believe that this trend creates serious challenges for Western countries, as many of these organizations are not subject to sanctions but are already supplying advanced technologies to China.
Thus, the news highlights China's ongoing development in the field of civilian and military artificial intelligence technologies, which creates new challenges for Western states and intensifies competition in this area.
Amid a global arms race and rapid technological development, the endorsement of military-civil integration in China raises concerns in other countries. Observers note that such a strategy could impact global security and become a catalyst for new conflicts in international relations.
