China launched an emergency spacecraft to Tiangong: what Shenzhou-22 is carrying.
According to Korrespondent.net: China conducted its first emergency launch as part of its manned space program, sending an unmanned Shenzhou-22 spacecraft to the Tiangong station. The spacecraft is delivering supplies and equipment to repair the damaged Shenzhou-20 module. This was reported by CCTV.
Launch of the carrier rocket
The Chang Zheng-2F Y22 carrier rocket launched from the Jiuquan launch site in the Gobi Desert at 12:11 local time (06:11 Kyiv time). Approximately 10 minutes after launch, the spacecraft successfully separated from the rocket and entered the planned orbit.
Uncrewed mission
Shenzhou-22 is flying without a crew and is set to deliver space food, medical supplies, fresh fruits and vegetables, spare parts for Tiangong, as well as equipment to repair the crack in the Shenzhou-20 porthole.
Reasons for the emergency launch
This mission marks the 38th launch under the Chinese manned space program and the 610th flight of the Chang Zheng series rocket. The emergency launch was necessary due to damage to the Shenzhou-20 as well as the fact that there had been no rescue module at the station for ten days. In case of an emergency, the three crew members would not have been able to return to Earth, and this situation was the first for the Tiangong station since its launch in late 2022.
Earlier, Ukrainian intelligence reported that China is assisting Russia with strikes on Ukraine. In particular, Beijing is providing the Russians with satellite intelligence data for missile strikes.
