China condemns US operation in Venezuela: Beijing calls it hegemony.
According to ТСН: The US military has launched an operation aimed at overthrowing Nicolas Maduro's regime in Venezuela, which has caused a significant international uproar. One of the first countries to officially condemn the actions of the US government was the People's Republic of China.
“Deep shock” and condemnation
Chinese diplomacy, which is usually cautious in its statements, made a clear statement this time. Beijing emphasized that they are "deeply shocked" by the news of the armed action against a sovereign state and its president.
"China is deeply shocked and resolutely condemns the blatant use of force by the United States against a sovereign state and actions against its president," the statement emphasizes.
Accusations of hegemony
The Chinese Foreign Ministry characterized the actions of American special forces as a manifestation of imperial policy, which contradicts modern norms of coexistence among countries.
"Such acts of US hegemony seriously violate international law and the sovereignty of Venezuela," highlighted the spokesperson of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
The term "hegemony" in the language of Chinese diplomats is considered one of the strongest expressions to describe aggressive foreign policy that disregards the interests of other participants.
Threat to regional security
The statement also emphasizes potential consequences for geopolitical stability. Beijing warns that the forcible removal of the Venezuelan leader may lead to chaos.
Chinese diplomats indicate that such actions "threaten peace and security in Latin America and the Caribbean."
China, having significant economic interests in this region, expressed "strong opposition" to such methods of resolving political issues.
Demands to Washington
The statement concludes with a call for the American authorities to reassess their foreign policy.
"We urge the US to adhere to international law, the goals and principles of the UN Charter, and to stop violating the sovereignty and security of other countries," the Chinese Foreign Ministry summarized.
Experts believe that such a strong reaction from China is driven not only by its partnership with Maduro's regime but also by Beijing's principled position on non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries, which they also apply to their sensitive issues, including the Taiwan issue.
At the same time, it is noted that the overthrow of Maduro could significantly impact Russia, as it would be a "political slap in the face to Putin" and may lead to a drop in global oil prices, limiting Russia's ability to finance the war against Ukraine.
The events surrounding Venezuela indicate an escalation of tensions in relations between major powers, particularly the US and China. The resonant statements from China reflect their concerns about American actions in Latin America, where Beijing already has deep economic interests. This situation could have serious consequences not only for Venezuela but also for regional and global politics as a whole.
