SBU Expert: Why It Would Be Advantageous for Ukraine to Stop the War at the Current Front Line.
Situation on the Front and Ukraine's Position
According to ТСН: Former SBU employee and military expert Ivan Stupak notes that Russia does not plan to end the war. At the same time, it would be advantageous for Ukraine to stop the conflict at the line of demarcation.
Expert's Assessment
In an interview, he stated that currently Ukraine does not have the ability to reclaim its territories seized as a result of Russia's actions. Stupak also emphasized that the Russian side has no intention of stopping hostilities.
“Everything comes down to the issue of territories. But the Russians currently have no desire to stop. In general, there are two models for conducting peace negotiations. The Western model: politicians sit down at the negotiating table, while the military (on both sides) stop. The Eastern model, which Russia adheres to: politicians communicate, while the war continues, seizures are ongoing. They, the Russians, think this way,” says Stupak.
The Ukrainian side faces serious challenges in negotiations, as the situation on the front remains tense. Despite attempts to find a peaceful resolution to the conflict, achieving stable progress is currently not possible. The continuation of hostilities negatively impacts both people and the territorial integrity of the country, forcing Ukrainians to seek new ways out of the impending crises.
