One of Ukrainians' favorite vegetables is carrots, which are now actively being harvested in the gardens. Experienced gardeners share tips on when is the best time to collect this sweet root and how to store it after harvest so that it not only lasts longer but also remains tasty and beautiful. So when is the best time to harvest carrots? Experienced gardeners note: if the leaves of the plants are still green, wait until the roots are ripe and have gained weight. But if the leaves are wilting and turning yellow, prepare your buckets - it's time to dig. If your area is known for rains, conduct an experiment: dig up a few carrots and check for damage. If there are cracks - dig up all of them. After harvesting, it is better to store carrots in a cool and dark place, such as in a basement or cellar with zero temperature. The main thing is to create the necessary storage conditions so that the root does not lose its taste and beneficial properties. Also, we previously wrote about how to properly process carrots in the garden to prevent them from being attacked by pests.
