Out of 556 Drones, 541 Were Shot Down—But 15 Still Hit Lviv, Says Drone Forces Commander in Response to Mayor.
Robert Brovdi Responds to Lviv Mayor's Criticism
According to TSN.ua: Ukraine's Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, Robert Brovdi, has pushed back against Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi, who questioned the effectiveness of counter-drone measures. Brovdi stated that the enemy launches at least a hundred drones every single day. He emphasized that throughout March, not a single day passed with fewer than a hundred Shahed or Geran drones flying in Ukrainian skies.
'Not a single day in March so far has seen fewer than a hundred Shahed/Geran drones prowling the skies of Ukraine' – Robert Brovdi
According to Brovdi, on some days the number of drone attacks reached 400 to 500. Air defense forces managed to destroy 541 out of 556 unmanned aerial vehicles. Despite these successes, however, 15 enemy drones still reached Lviv. During the drone attack on Lviv on March 24, explosions were heard, leaving 32 people injured.
The Challenge and the Critical Role of Air Defense
The commander also highlighted the immense difficulty of the task:
'There is no air defense system on planet Earth that can—through the hands of warriors across echelons and lines from the front to peaceful cities—erase 95-97% of attacking drones' – Robert BrovdiThese remarks underscore the immense challenge and the vital importance of countering enemy attacks, as well as the pressures faced by Ukraine's air defense.
Brovdi's statement paints a stark picture of the relentless threat Ukraine faces daily. Even when the vast majority of hostile drones are neutralized, the danger to civilian areas remains severe. This reality highlights the urgent need for constant improvements to air defense systems and reliable protection for peaceful cities.
