Corruption Schemes in the Ukrainian Army
According to inkorr.com: Corruption practices have been discovered again in Ukrainian military units. Prosecutors in Chernihiv and Zhytomyr regions uncovered illegal disbursements of funds intended for additional payments to soldiers.
'Prosecutors of specialized military prosecution offices in the Central region have revealed corruption schemes in military units of Chernihiv and Zhytomyr regions related to the embezzlement of funds intended for additional payments to soldiers.'
Abuses in Chernihiv Region
In the Chernihiv region, commanders and several subordinates of one military unit are suspected of creating a fictitious rear support point. Funds intended for official needs were stolen and spent on repairing the private property of the commander, causing losses of over 2 million hryvnias.
The Situation in Zhytomyr Region
In the Zhytomyr region, one official has already received five years of imprisonment and a fine of over 600,000 hryvnias for organizing illegal payments to soldiers who did not even perform combat missions. Such corrupt actions could have serious implications for the state of the Ukrainian army in the future.
Cases of corruption in the armed forces raise concerns in society and undermine trust in military management. It is crucial to take immediate measures to prevent and eliminate such schemes to ensure transparency and effectiveness in the army.
