Russia demands secret negotiations with the USA: what is known about the peace proposal.
According to inkorr.com: The press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, believes that discussions on security guarantees should take place in a closed format. He emphasized that this is an important topic for resolving the conflict in Ukraine, but public discussions do not help achieve results.
Peskov stated: 'Certainly, this is one of the most important topics (security guarantees) in the context of efforts to seek a settlement of the war in Ukraine. Undoubtedly, this topic always figures in the agenda of ongoing contacts... But we would not like to talk about this topic in a public format right now. We consider it unhelpful for overall effectiveness.'
Praise for Trump for peace initiatives
Peskov also thanked US President Donald Trump for his efforts in peacekeeping activities, noting that representatives of Russia and Ukraine maintain contact. However, the date of the next round of negotiations has not yet been determined.
Furthermore, it is worth noting that earlier, US Special Representative Steve Witkoff spoke about Russia's 'peace proposal' regarding Donetsk during discussions on a possible cessation of the war in Ukraine.
It is important that negotiations between Russia and the USA regarding security guarantees in Ukraine take place in a closed format to achieve effective solutions. Peskov also emphasized cooperation between the Russian Federation and Ukraine, but no new round of negotiations is currently planned.
Thus, the situation surrounding security guarantees remains tense, and a closed discussion format may be key to achieving a compromise. The relevance of peace initiatives, particularly from the USA, underscores the importance of international support in achieving stability in the region.
