Putin demands to take Donbas in exchange for peace: what Ukraine responded.
According to The Sun: Russian President Vladimir Putin continues to make demands on Ukraine, refusing to back down. During negotiations in Alaska with Trump, Putin demanded that Ukraine hand over the entire eastern part of Donbas – the so-called 'fortress belt' – in exchange for peace.
Currently, Russia has already occupied most of the territory of two regions, Donetsk and Luhansk, but Ukraine bravely holds on to one well-supplied front.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has clearly stated that he does not intend to give up any territory to Russia as part of any peace agreement. European Commission Vice President Kaja Kallas warned that these demands are a trap that Putin wants us to fall into.
The Russian leader refuses to accept any measures from the West to ensure a peace agreement and continues to escalate violence in eastern Ukraine.
The Ukrainian region of Donbas has become a key point in peace negotiations. However, Kyiv consistently rejects the idea of giving up any territory that it currently controls, creating a significant obstacle in the negotiations.
Donbas is an industrial powerhouse of Ukraine, where rich deposits of coal and metal are found underground, as well as an important strategic location that defends the central territory of the country.
Ukraine is not going to give up control of Donbas and continues to fight for its territorial integrity. Putin continues to demand from North America and Europe and set his conditions, but Ukraine does not concede.
