Lavrov ready for a meeting with Rubio: named the condition for negotiations regarding Ukraine
The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergey Lavrov stated that he is ready for a personal meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, but set a condition - any negotiations about ending the war against Ukraine must be conducted with consideration of 'Moscow's interests.'

Regular contact with Rubio

According to inkorr.com: In an interview with one of the propaganda publications, Lavrov confirmed that there is constant contact between him and Rubio, including through phone calls. He noted that both sides 'understand the importance of constant dialogue' and may consider the possibility of a personal meeting.

Foundation for agreements

According to the Russian minister, he considers the summer negotiations in Alaska between Putin and Donald Trump as the foundation for potential agreements. During that time, according to Lavrov, the American side allegedly assured the Kremlin that it 'would be able to guarantee a constructive position from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.' At the same time, he acknowledged that 'there have been certain difficulties' with this, hinting at the lack of progress in resolution.

Pressure from Europe

Separately, Lavrov accused the European allies of the U.S. of pressuring Washington. He stated that 'Brussels and London are convincing the Americans to abandon the diplomatic path and to rely on military pressure against Russia.' Earlier, Trump explained at a meeting with Orban why he canceled the summit with Putin.

Sergey Lavrov expressed his readiness for negotiations with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio but emphasized the need to consider Russia's interests in any negotiations regarding the situation in Ukraine. Progress in resolving the conflict in eastern Ukraine remains uncertain, especially after the difficulties that arose during the negotiations in Alaska.

This development may indicate Moscow's intention to find a way out of the difficult situation in Ukraine, although changes on the diplomatic front are hard to predict so far. At the same time, pressure from European countries on the U.S. indicates a continuation of open rivalry and complicated relations in international politics.
