During the event, Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich was reported to be in Kyiv acting as a courier. Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that

“the Kremlin is not ready for serious negotiations”

—a remark that highlights the challenges facing diplomatic attempts to resolve the war. President Vladimir Putin has also made clear that Russia intends to achieve its objectives on the battlefield, signaling a lack of interest in a peaceful resolution.
