UK, France, and Germany Reaffirm Support for Ukraine, Outlining Peace Conditions.
European Leaders Stand Behind Ukraine
According to Novyny.live: On Sunday, the leaders of Britain, France, and Germany held a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, where they reaffirmed their backing for Ukraine and discussed the conditions necessary to achieve peace, as well as next steps in negotiations. The conversation centered on establishing a fair and lasting peace agreement.
Peace Terms Under Discussion
The peace terms that were deliberated include:
- a ceasefire;
- the current line of contact;
- reliable security guarantees for Ukraine.
The leaders also stressed the need to immobilize Russian assets and safeguard European security interests. These guarantees should be built upon commitments made in Berlin in December 2025 and in Paris in January 2026.
Additionally, the meeting covered the upcoming G7 summit in Évian, a gathering of the 'coalition of the willing,' and a NATO summit scheduled in Turkey. The leaders praised President Zelenskyy's call for a diplomatic end to the war through negotiations, as recorded in a joint statement.
On June 4, 2026, Zelenskyy also sent a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin, highlighting Ukraine's efforts in pursuing peace.
Negotiations continue to play a crucial role in finding ways to stabilize the situation in the region.
This meeting underscores the growing diplomatic support for Ukraine from Western nations, which could be a key factor in advancing the negotiation process. The security guarantees discussed may significantly influence future developments and regional stability. Successful G7 and NATO summits could further strengthen the international coalition backing Ukraine's quest for peace.
