Drone Threat Forces Moscow–Sochi Flight to Reroute Twice in One Evening.
Flight SU1132 Incident Highlights Growing UAV Risks
According to Novyny.live: On June 5, a passenger jet operating as flight SU1132 from Moscow to Sochi was forced to alter its course on two separate occasions. The disruptions were triggered by flight restrictions imposed at Sochi Airport due to an active threat from Ukrainian drones near the Black Sea coastline.
The aircraft departed Moscow around 6:00 p.m. local time. However, by approximately 9:00 p.m., authorities halted incoming flights at Sochi, compelling the crew to divert to a backup airfield in Astrakhan. The situation remained unstable, and around 11:00 p.m., a second round of restrictions was enforced at Sochi. As a result, the plane ultimately landed in Mineralnye Vody.
Rising Tensions in the Black Sea Region
This event underscores the escalating security concerns in the region linked to unmanned aerial vehicles. The fact that Sochi Airport implemented flight limitations twice in a single evening highlights the severity of the threat environment.
Such incidents demonstrate that drones have become a significant factor in both military and civilian safety dynamics across the Black Sea area. Flight restrictions of this kind can disrupt air traffic and impact tourism in this popular resort destination. Given the current conditions, similar episodes may become more frequent if drone-related dangers persist.
