During a government trip to Syria, Ukraine's Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, Vitaliy Koval, held meetings in Lebanon.
One of these meetings was with Lebanese businessmen, representatives of 12 companies involved in importing - millers, traders, entrepreneurs who buy food products, meat, and grain from Ukraine.
According to the minister, due to a meat shortage, cooperation with Ukrainian farmers can be developed specifically in cattle breeding.
'Today we export products worth over 400 million dollars to Lebanon, although the potential is 1 billion. That is why the task of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy is to increase the import of our products to Lebanon. I discussed with their business what needs to be done to increase trade turnover. Lebanese entrepreneurs noted some bureaucratic aspects and logistical problems. Now I clearly understand that we need to simplify the procedures. Lebanon is an important trade partner for us, so we will work on developing our relations further,' emphasized Vitaliy Koval.
