Crash Involving Two Scheduled Buses
According to Espreso.tv: On July 18, a head-on collision between two scheduled buses occurred on the main road connecting Brno and Znojmo, near the village of Olexovice. The accident took place at an intersection close to the turnoff for Lechovice. As a result, two female citizens of Ukraine sustained injuries.
Emergency Response Efforts
Thirteen ambulances and a medical helicopter were dispatched to the scene. To ensure safety and facilitate rescue operations, the highway was closed for five hours. Both bus drivers underwent alcohol testing, and the breathalyzer results came back negative.
The two Ukrainian women, who suffered minor injuries, were examined by medical personnel and then continued their journey. According to Petr Hrozová, a spokesperson for the rescue services,
“all emergency services are working at the scene.”Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reported that
“the consular office has established contact with law enforcement at the scene for operational communication.”
This incident highlights the critical importance of road safety, particularly in high-traffic areas. While both injured individuals sustained only minor harm, the crash could have resulted in far more severe consequences. Authorities, including Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, have responded swiftly, demonstrating their commitment to protecting their citizens abroad.
