According to The Sun: The large supermarket chain with 340 branches plans to close one of its stores tomorrow.
This chain specializes in frozen foods but also offers a wide range of well-known brands such as Muller, Birds Eye and McCain.
AlamyHeron Foods was founded in 1978 as a local butcher shop in Hull called 'Grindells Butchers'. After the business passed to Anthony Grindell's sister, the name was changed, and the chain began to expand rapidly.
Today, the company has 343 stores across the UK, but it has faced a serious challenge. It has been announced that the store in Scunthorpe will close its doors permanently.
On the Facebook group for Heron Foods Scunthorpe, one of the administrators reached out to regular customers with a message about the closure.
“Dear customers, we want to thank you for your ongoing support and loyalty to our Heron Foods store in Scunthorpe. It has been a pleasure serving the local community, and we are extremely grateful for the relationships we have built over the years.”
“We are writing to inform you that our Scunthorpe store, located on Jubilee Way in Parishes Shopping Centre, will be closing.”
“This decision was not taken lightly, and we understand that it may be disappointing for many of you.”
The store will close its doors on Sunday.
The administrator also noted: “Our last day of trading will be September 27, and until then we will continue to offer good deals and service.”
“We invite you to visit us before we close to take advantage of remaining stock and special offers.”
In the comments, customers expressed their surprise and disappointment at this decision. One user wrote: “It's a shame, you always had great deals, I will miss you.”
Another added: “It’s a shame it’s closing, I always went there every week.”
“Although this store is closing, we remain committed to serving our customers across the UK.”

However, the company will open a new store in Biker, Newcastle, which will start operations on October 16. An upgrade of the store in Fulwell, Sunderland, is also planned to open in early October.
In August 2017, the chain was bought by B&M for £152 million.

With the closure of the store in Scunthorpe, Heron Foods faces certain difficulties, but the company does not rest on its laurels and plans to open new locations to improve its business.
