Maia Sandu re-elected as President of Moldova: official election results from CEC.
The Central Election Commission of Moldova has published the results of the presidential election, which took place on November 3.
According to the CEC, the elections were recognized as having taken place, reports Radio Liberty.
Incumbent President Maia Sandu, supported by the Action and Solidarity party, won the election, receiving 930,139 votes. Her main opponent, former Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo, supported by the Socialist Party of the Republic of Moldova, received 750,430 votes.
The Central Election Commission reported that the voter turnout was 54.31%.
Voters in the diaspora were particularly active - 328,855 citizens made their choice at 231 foreign polling stations, setting a record for the number of voters abroad. It was their votes that ensured Maia Sandu's victory, while in Moldova, the majority supported Alexandr Stoianoglo.
